I finally got around to taking my broken Autodromo to a repair place, only to find out I need a complete new movement, and that it’s way beyond my price range. I was pretty sad, bacause it was my first and favorite watch, but then I did some research, and found a new movement (Ronda 6003.D) on eBay for only $30. So my question, as you probably guessed, is if it’s a job that I (with my complete lack of watch-repairing skills) can do myself?

Why not buy the movement and have it done by said shop? Its only my guess that you don’t posses the specialized watch repair tools that are likely necessary.

It’s just the labor costs that I can’t really afford right now, otherwise I would

Maybe, if you don’t mind buying the tools and potentially terminally killing it. I dicker around with watches and unless you’re extremely careful you can make things worse than how they were going in. Fun hobby though.
There’s lots of info out there on the internet, take a look at what material you’d need to do it,
do not
skimp on tools...you will scratch and break stuff trying to do it with stuff you have on hand...and then look at the step by step and see if it's something your comfortable doing on something that you wouldn't want to lose.

My roommate actually does some watch repairs, so I think I might just try it! Thankfully it’s quartz, which I’d imagine is much easier then working on automatics.

Infinitely easier. The question will be whether you can do it all from the back or if the crystal needs to be pulled. Quartz can be a pretty trivial pull and replace if you’re lucky.

Sooooo is this a knock on Autodromo watches? Because I really want one, but can’t quite afford it yet. Should I stop dreaming?
Also, I hope you can fix it because the watches are gorgeous. Don’t know which one you own but I love them all.

Oh no, not at all! I love mine, I’m just a dumbass and I dropped it on the floor... I’ve got a Veloce; it’s the one in the picture and they’re actually on sale now I believe.
